How to control and escape from allergic problem 'Asthma'
Asthma is the most common allergic problem seen in people. It is called as an obstructive lung disease. It is an incurable disease and can be controlled by good treatment. Recent study estimates that about 300 million people in the world are under Asthma. Asthma Patients sometimes do treatments by themselves, but the actual cause of their problem will be different as they meet a doctor. Most of Asthma patients will do their daily works without control the disease. Some patient stops their inhaler by thinking that they did not find any breathing problems, but this is a very dangerous situation. Most time while meeting the doctor, he will not get a good picture of the patient’s condition as they stop doing work and not taking inhalers.
To understand whether the Asthma is under control the patient has lots of ways. According to guidelines of the American National Institute the spyrometric and level of inhaling Nitric Oxide are very important. We can’t ask Asthma patient ‘whether your condition is cured?’ There is not meant for asking such a question to them, as they always say they are in good condition; why they are saying because they are taking inhalers with Salbutamol tablets.
To understand an Asthma patient’s condition, doctor or anyone can ask the following questions.
- Whether your Asthma condition causing problems while you sleeping?
- In a week how many times you are using Salbutamol?
- How much work you can do without inhaling Salbutamol?
By asking these questions one can understand the condition of the Asthma patient.
If one Asthma patient wants to say his/her condition is under control, then he/she should not take Salbutamol more than 2 times in a week. According to this calculation a 200 puff containing inhaler is enough for 1 year. If a patient is using Salbutamol inhaler continuously without using a steroid inhaler, then the patient will loss his way to curing Asthma.
TheTriggers
- Animals(pet hair or dander)
- Dust
- Changes in weather
- Chemicals in the air or in food
- Exercise
- Mould
- Pollen
- Respiratory infections,like common cold
- Strong emotions,like stress.
- Tobacco smoke
- Aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)
With the help of ACT (Asthma control centre) questions, we can understand how Asthma can be controlled.
- How other diseases affecting the control of Asthma?
Diseases in other organs can cause changes in the wind pipe and air circulation. Improper treating of fever and sinus disease can cause curing of Asthma. Mucus formed as a result of fever will come through behind the nose and enter to the wind pipe causing a shrinking of it. Also for gas trouble people Acid from the stomach come to the wind pipe causing a shrinking of it. If the Asthma is not controlled by taking the inhalers, then the patient should have a fever or sinus conditions.
- How to understand whether the Asthma patient is under danger and how can we understand it earlier?
If the patient not taken the inhaler correctly, It should be due to many reasons like not money for buying it, due to the difference in opinion between doctor and patient etc.
Allergy to fungus is the one of the main reasons for Asthma. About 25% of people have hay fever causes Asthma. Indoor allergens like animal proteins, dust mites, cockroaches and fungi causing Asthma. Pollen of flowers also triggers asthma. Tobacco smoke has been a major reason for Asthma condition. Pollutants like sulfur diode, nitrogen oxide, ozone and high humidity also triggers Asthma. Stress, obesity, Genetic problems, airway hyper reactivity, and Atopy increase the occurrence of Asthma. Some 40% to 50% of children with atopic dermatitis also develop asthma.
Many of the parents will not like to give inhalers to their children’s with Asthma, sending them to danger. For Asthma patients by taking spyrometric test the F.E.V.I (Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 Second) value will only 60%. Sometimes the patients will not understand this .This is a warning to the patient.
If this becomes worse, the patients will loss breathing and talking efficiency. This is the most dangerous situation. They should take the Salbutamol inhaler in order to improve their breathing. But if this situation again happens may lead to death. Patients those neglecting Asthma conditions will not take proper medicines causing worsening of their condition.
What happens during an asthma attack?
- The muscles around the airways tighten up, shrinking airways.
- Less air is able to flow through the airway.
- Inflammation of the airways increases causing further shrinking
Many of the Asthma patients don't like to take steroid inhalers, but taking of this inhaler will help to avoid going to emergency care and admitting in hospitals every time. Also they will survive from dangerous situations. Many patients thinking that using of steroid inhaler is more dangerous than Salbutamol inhaler .This belief is really bad, as study reveals that the patient using Salbutamol inhaler will have more like to happen death than steroid inhaler.
Research in a steroid inhaler study explains that intake of it in children will not cause any retardation, eye problems, and bone strength.
The main controlling of Asthma is by the use of steroid inhaler. Salbutamol inhaler can use 1 or 2 times in a week if it's necessary. About 10% of American Olympic athletes are Asthma patients. They are using steroid inhaler continually with proper doctor's advice and bagging a lot of Gold medals.
Self protections like stay away from substances that trigger symptoms.Work together with your doctor to develop and carry out a plan for eliminating asthma triggers and monitoring symptoms.

Latest Breakthrough
Bronchial angioplasty works by delivering thermal energy to the airways through a catheter to burn away smooth muscle that is inflamed in asthma patients. This treatment has three sections, widens the airways enough to decrease their ability to constrict in response to a trigger and reduce the frequency of asthma attacks.
Many studies reveals that the average patient who undergoes bronchial thermoplasty is likely to experience a 30% reduction in asthma attacks.
